Dive Itinerary & Ship Info

Ship Information

Thanks to Jody's hard work, we are heading back to the Caribbean in 2015! Those of you new to Celebrity will find it a little more upscale than Princess; it has a country club vibe to it during the day and is a tad more formal in the evening.

Celebrity Equinox was launched in 2009 as the second of five Solstice-class ships. She has multiple dining venues (like the spa-restaurant Blu and continental Murano), a gelateria and enhanced coffee shop, and tons of balcony cabins. I have not been on the Equinox, but I have been on other Solstice class ships; they are my favorites. We sailed on the Reflection last November which is the newer, larger version of this ship and we weren't disappointed. I think you will find a lot to like about Celebrity.

Mike & Suzi booked cabin 6185 on Deck 6; it was the least expensive balcony right now. Prices should come down in a few months, as is the case with most post holiday sailings. Unlike the cruise to Tahiti, Mike and I will be schlepping our dive gear with us this time, so a balcony will not go to waste! But be warned: the life boat fleet is situated on hoists immediately outside some of the verandas on deck 6. I am hoping for a price drop and an upgrade, so for now, I am okay. Check out the deck plans to see where we are.

You can take an 8 minute tour of the Equinox via YouTube; I strongly recommend you check it out, as it will give a good feeling on what the ship is like.  Those of you who were on the 2010 Scuba Cruise will find the Equinox very similar to the Solstice; if you weren't there, here is the YouTube version of the 2010 Scuba Cruise.
